| Hi friends,
After a somewhat lengthy interview process, I am
finally the new Strategic Communications Manager for the Woodruff Arts
Center. Yippie =) This is my second day, and so far, I really like it
- just a lot to get used to. But i'm figuring it out. Thanks to
everybody that was encouraging me through the job hunting process.
more to come.
Talk to you soon! | | |
| a lot of crazy stuff happened today, but i guess the craziest - i found
out my dad has skin cancer on his face. =( they are doing a biopsy to
find out just how bad the cancer is, but bad or not bad, it still has
to come off. so hes in for some painful face surgery. it probably
won't turn out to be one of the bad kinds of skin cancer, but still.
its kind of scary.... | | |
| Well,
i survived two plane rides. hooray! I am a white knuckled flier at
best. Because I hadn't flown in a while, I think I had forgotten some
of the scary sounds the plane makes and the flight out was actually
worse than I had anticipated. The flight back I knew what to expect
and it wasn't so bad. Good practice for November, since I'll be on a
plane for much longer. boo! oh wells.....
We went to San
Antonio for Chris's cousin Jonny's wedding. His now wife Genevieve is
so sweet and beautiful. Her dress was lovely, the wedding was lovely,
the reception was in the pavilion of a real working Texas catttle
ranch. It was really pretty, very rustic - and there were long horns
walking around. One funny thing - the minister started the ceremony by
saying "we are gathered here for the union of Jonathan and Geneva"
and i thought, "um, is that short for Genevieve? no, it can't be."
then i noticed that members of the bridal party on stage were giggling
and trying to hold back laughter. Then the minister started to pray,
and again thanked God for Jonathan and Geneva. Bridal
party giggling continued, and even the bride's shoulders were shaking.
finally, after her father gave her away and the couple walked up on the
stage, Genevieve was able to whisper her correct name to the minister.
poor girl. maybe that can be edited out of the video.... I'll try to
add some pictures to this post later...
Also, the Favorite
Gentlemen record label website that Liz and Chris did is up. It looks
great! They did a great job! and the copy isn't bad either ;) here
is the link http://www.favoritegentlemen.com | | |
| Last night the Manchester Orchestra had a show at the Masquerade. They have started a record label called Favorite Gentlemen, and hired Chris and Liz to build the website from scratch. They worked on it for most of January and February (and it looks awesome! by the way), and when it was nearly finished, they realized they didn't have all the info on the bands they needed to complete it. Getting bios and album reviews from the bands was also tricky mostly because they didn't have them. So Jeremiah from Manchester hired me to write most of the site content - band bios, album reviews, history of the label, etc. I have gotten to contact all the bands on their roster - Right Away Great Captain, Winston Audio, Pasadena, the Beggars Guild, I Married My Highschool Sweetheart, Harrison Hudson, Andrew Nelson and the Shotgun Lovers, and more - and interviewed them via e-mail. It's been a really big project, and it's getting close to being finished, I'll post the link to the site when it's live.
But anyway, so Wednesday, Jeremiah from Manchester called to say he put us all on the guest list for the show. I hadn't even known they were going to be in town, but we moved some Thursday plans around so we could be there. It was a really great show. I videotaped parts of it, so i will post that laters. Also, Jeremiah told me when they get back in town he wants to talk to me about how we can be more involved in the label in the future. So maybe more part time stuff. It's been really fun so far....

| Hey everybody, if you remember back in May of last year, I arranged for a family of 24 I work with to be on Operah's Big Give. their episode comes on tonight at 9 on ABC if you can watch it. And you may see me in the background helping out and taking pictures.....
*Update* the contestant that was helping the Murphys was voted off, b/c he failed to recognize that the family could benefit from having their groceries paid for, not from $500 worth of chinese food which most of the kids can't eat anyway because of their glueton alergies..... something they didn't show yet was the family getting a gift from Target and I don't know if that's something that will be televised, but i'm still not allowed to talk about it until the show is over. So more to come...... p.s. i wasn't on television, but my car was.....
